DROP-IN En dag i månaden, se kalendern för datum, klockan 15-17.

English version:

What is CheckPoint Sjuhärad?

CheckPoint Sjuhärad gives you opportunity to easily take a HIV & syphilis test and get a quick result. It´s free of charge and you can be totally anonymous. The testings are done outside of medical care in the facilities of RFSL Sjuhärad in central Borås.
Our reception is open one day a month 3 to 5 PM. You don’t need to book a time, you can just show up.
We take a needle stick in your finger and after only 1 minute you will have the result.

For whom?
CheckPoint Sjuhärad is mainly a clinic for men and trans persons who have sex with men. But, of course, everyone is welcome to take the test.

When can you test yourself?
DROP IN one day every month, between 3 to 5 PM. Please check our calendar för more info. If you would prefer another date or time than our drop-in, please call us at 033-106970 or send an email to checkpoint@sjuharad.rfsl.se!
If you need an interpreter you must book your visit at least three weekdays in advance. Do that by email checkpoint@sjuharad.rfsl.se
See dates in our calendar.

When is it possible to take the test?
The HIV test measures antibodies in your blood. It means that the virus can first be detected after that the body has build antibodies against the virus. How long that takes differs from person to person. We recommend that is has been eight weeks from when you think you might have been transmitted, so that the test can be reliable.
If you are acutely worried a traditional blood test will be better, because it can discover hiv at an earlier state. If you want to know where you can take such a test, please contact us.
CheckPoint Sjuhärad won´t deny anyone who wants to take a test as long as the person isn’t intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. Rather one test too many than a test to little.

Why take a hiv test?
CheckPoint Sjuhärad wants to give everyone an opportunity to test themselves. By knowing your hiv status you may take care of your own and other people’s health. The majority of everyone who has transmitted hiv has got it from a person who’s not aware being positive. To take a test is an effective way to decrease hiv transmitting.
By testing regularly you can protect yourself and your partners.
Todays treatment is very effective. If you have a reactive test you’ll get availability to treatment and medication in time. This leads to that you can live a fully satisfactory life. The medications of today can make the virus levels get undetectable.
CheckPoint Sjuhärad gives you the chance to test yourself anonymous completely outside the medical care directions. You’ll get the test result immediately. For some it´s simply the best option. Several of us behind CheckPoint Sjuhärad are LGBTQI. We are a community based reception, and that makes us an important complement to other places to take tests.

How does the test work?
A hiv test is simple and fast to implement:
We take a blood sample from your finger and some drops of blood is placed on a rod.
The blood mixes with chemicals.
We wait just 1 minute for the result.

Meanwhile you are offered to talk with us with whatever you want and need.
If you test reactive we can help you to quickly come to health care to do a follow up, a confirmatory test. This is recommended when someone has a reactive result with the hiv quick test. CheckPoint Sjuhärad cooperate with the Infection Clinic at SÄS, but if you live in another city or you don´t want to go to there we can help you to contact another clinic/health care. We don´t force anyone to seek care and we don´t report anyone to the care without the persons consent. If you need time to process your reactions before you visit a doctor we can offer talk and support with some who is peer supporter and lives with HIV.

Anonymity
You are totally anonymous when you visit CheckPoint Sjuhärad. We won´t question your name, personal code number or telephone number. Since no one who works here is educated clinician we don’t need to take journals. Even if you test positive you will remain anonymous.
Everyone who works at CheckPoint Sjuhärad has professional secrecy. It means that what you tell us stays between us.

You are welcome to take the test for free even if you are just visiting Sweden!
